The Spirit of Prague

Ivan Klíma wrote the following in The Spirit of Prague РFor me, the material and spiritual centre of this city is an almost 700-year-old stone bridge connecting the west with the east. The Charles Bridge is an emblem of the city's situation in Europe, the two halves of which have been seeking each other out at the very least since the bridge's foundations were laid. The West and the East.

Home: Leaving and Going

April 28th was a very BIG day in my life. I left home, and came home, all in the space of a few hours. Home is where the toys are, I believe, and a good blanket. Home is where the dads are, and a good toy or forty to chew on. Home is in a quiet small house with no other dogs!

I am a star!

Rewind: It was evening when they came for me. I was a bit shocked that it wasn't just a visit. There I was, post-bath, sleeping with my sister, and the dads were there, waking me up and playing! It was just like any other visit, they were playing with me. And after an hour or so of inside playing, outside playing, drying off, suddenly, I was whisked outside and... Holy Shit, it's a Volvo! I really AM going to Ballard!

The car ride was a blur: there was squirming, and holding, and bumps and turns, a city went by, they rolled the window down for me, and then I was there. Home. It's all new. Smells. Sights. Toys. Crate. Places to eat, play, sleep and poop. New.

They played with me so hard and it got so late, I just passed out. I didn't even notice when I got carried upstairs and put in a crate with my blanket from Angel's. I grabbed a shirt from my new dad, balled it up and went right to sleep. That was a long night, and I slept all the way through.

My first full day in my new life comes next. Until then, This is Trip, and I'm out!

Hello World

Hello World! My name is Triplo, which means triple in Italian. I am currently 8 weeks and 2 days old. I am a Golden Retriever and I am one lucky pup. There's a few things you might notice about me:
1. I am ridiculously cute. I'm sorry, I can't help it. It's not vanity, it just is.
2. I'm young but I'm keen; I'm happy to share my insights with you.
3. I have three legs. 3.5 officially, and though some of you may be concerned about that, please don't worry. I have yet to take notice.

Some of you may also be concerned about my name, but Triplo, or Trip for short, is fine with me. It's not only a tribute to my uniqueness, it symbolizes all good things that come in threes! A hat trick, for example.

Anna Quindlen once wrote an essay titled Evan's Two Moms. I say Evan is one lucky kid, but I have three dads. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Evan. We'll get to the social commentary on gay marriage and alternative family structures another time, but right now I have some business.

I eat three times a day, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit I poop and pee more than that. Play. Eat. Poop. Pee. Sleep. Repeat as necessary.

This is going to be a big week for me. I get my first shots, and... before I go on, I should explain, I still live with my mom Evey, my dad Timer, and their lovely humans. My sister's name is Dory, and they call me Nemo. This week I will venture out in the world, though, to a new home in a far-away land known as Ballard; I wonder if they have toys in Ballard. I first met my new dads when I was young, so young I could barely see. Everything is a bit fuzzy from that day, but they have come back and played with me a few times. Heck, I'll play with anyone, especially Dory, but she sits on me.

I'll write more from the salty shores of Ballard; I'm sure it's groovy there. Nice to meet you, World. This is Trip, and I'm out.
